How to Install Ubuntu from USB? Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1: Download Ubuntu OS for your PC/Laptop

This is the first step on, How to Install Ubuntu from USB?.
Before downloading any OS make sure, which bit of ISO file will work on your device. You can simply find your PC/Laptop’s architecture by,
Go to control panel > system properties > system type (see whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit).
After conforming(32 bit or 64 bit), Go to official download page of Ubuntu by Clicking Here, and download.

Step 2: Make Bootable Pendrive for Ubuntu Os

Do not complicate yourself on, How to Boot Ubuntu from USB drive?. Use Rufus app on your windows,It makes bootable USB drive in just few clicks. You can download and Install,Rufus app on your windows using this Link.
After successfully installed Rufus app, Insert pendrive and open Rufus app. Then select pendrive and also add downloaded Ubuntu ISO file from download folder of your PC/Laptop.
Then configure partition style either MBR or GBT. For this,
Go to Computer Management in Windows >> Hard drive >> Properties >> Volume >> see MBR or GBT.
After all set, Click Start to boot os on pendrive, It will take sometime to complete.
After successfully created bootable pendrive, close the app and Remove that USB drive from PC.
For a Mac users, Use Universal USB Installer for Creating Bootable Pendrive.
For a Linux user, Use Etcher app for Creating Bootable Pendrive.

Step 3: Enter into Boot Menu on your PC/laptop

For other than Mac users,
Insert Booted USB drive into the PC/Laptop and restart the computer. While Restarting, Press F10 or F12 or Delete key to enter boot menu. And choose boot from USB drive and always prefer UEFI installation.
Note: Always prefer UEFI Installation method, If it’s failed try other type of installations(Bios or OEM).
If you were Running On Mac OS,
Insert the USB Pendrive and restart the computer. While Restarting hold down the Command + Option + P + R keys together. Now it will show, boot screen with all bootable devices connected, Select USB drive to boot.

Step 4: Live Boot Mode

Now you are Live Boot Mode, here you can check it’s features and test everything as per your wish. If you are satisfied with Ubuntu, Click on Install Ubuntu.

Step 5: Start Installation

1. Select Language

2. Select Keyboard Layout – Default

3. Network Configuration
Skip this step, otherwise it takes up to 2 hours to complete Installation. After Successfully Installing Ubuntu, we can update it later.
4. Updates and Other Software’s
Select >> Normal Installation (Recommended)
Select >> Enable third party Software for Graphics and Wi-Fi Hardware and Additional media formats

5. Installation type
If you wish to use Uuntu OS, alonside with other OS like, Windows, Mac,..
Select >> Install Ubuntu alongside them
If you want install Uuntu OS as primary/Single OS, without any partitioning(Not Recommended)
Select >> Erase disk and Install Ubuntu
If you want to Install Ubuntu as your Primary/Single OS,
Select >> Something else

6. Create Partition
If you wish to use Ubuntu OS, alongside with other OS,
Simply select, In which partition you wish to Install Ubuntu and continue to intiate Installation.
In the other hand, If you want to Install Ubuntu as your Primary/Single OS,
Select Manual Partition,
Linux uses ext4 file system format,

Use following partition schemes for Better experience: (500 GB Hard Disk)

Note: You must create separate partitions for Root(/), Swap area, /Boot, Boot/efi, /Var and Home. Otherwise Ubuntu OS installed without partition on your PC/Laptop. It will leads to data loss, for next time you booting any OS.

Swap area: You can create/allocate some space for Swap area, by RAM of your PC/Laptop * 2. Which is used for additional RAM and give better experience.

And continue to Install.

7. Select Region

Set Username, Computer Name and Password use for login.

9. Installed Successfully
